Brent Elliott talk

A hardy band of enthusiasts braved an Autumn storm to hear Dr Brent Elliott talk on Marnock as part of Celebrating Marnock and the Lambeth Heritage Festival. The talk, organised jointly by the Streatham Society and the Gardens Trust, was called ‘Robert Marnock, giant of 19th century gardening.’

Brent, formerly librarian at the Royal Horticultural Society, is author of the seminal book on gardens of this period, Victorian Gardens.

The audience was also able to enjoy the exhibition panels produced for Celebrating Marnock at Sheffield Botanical Gardens, and loaned to the venue for the evening.

The talk was linked with tours of the Marnock-designed Park Hill gardens in Streatham.

An audio recording of the talk, linked with Brent’s slides, is available to enjoy via the Streamtham Society’s YouTube channel.
