Celebrating Marnock talk in Sheffield

  • Education Centre, Sheffield Botanical Gardens Thompson Road Sheffield, England, S11 8RB United Kingdom (map)

In a talk for the Friends of Sheffield Botanical Gardens, Jill Sinclair and Laura Alston will explore the life and career of Scottish landscape gardener, horticulturalist and writer Robert Marnock (1800 - 1889) as well as some of the unusual and engaging events that have been happening around the country as part of this summer’s Marnock Celebrations.

This will also be a further opportunity to view the original editions of Marnock’s Floricultural Magazine, which were on display in the Dorothy Fox Centre in June.

Our speakers are Jill Sinclair, landscape historian, trustee of the Garden Trust, member of the executive of the Friends of the Gardens and one of the organisers of Celebrating Marnock and Laura Alston, Education and Engagement Co-ordinator for the Gardens and lead for the Celebrating Marnock project.
