Activities

There are lots of ways to engage and learn with Sheffield Botanical Gardens.

  • This page contains free downloadable resources for schools, parents and guardians to do with children of all Key Stages. These resources can be used at school or at home but also contain activities to come and do self-directed at the Gardens and learn on site.

    The different categories below tell you what area of the curriculum the resources correspond to and what Key Stage they are for. Some resources can be adaptable for different Key Stages and abilities.

    These resources are designed to help support learning in school and at home and embed a range of knowledge including Sciences, History, English and the Arts through Sheffield Botanical Gardens.

  • If you would like to:

    • Know more about being able to visit Sheffield Botanical Gardens with your school or to ask about using the Gardens for learning (including information about using these resources on site, useful information for planning your visit, booking the Dorothy Fox Education Centre and other materials you could use provided by us)

    • Develop resources with us specifically for your school and curricular needs

    • Developing an A-Level site study using our resources and site

  • Do activities with an adult. Leave everything as you found it. Do not eat anything you pick up outside and wash your hands after picking things up. Stick to paths and mown grass areas in urban greenspaces.

If you would like to explore more of the local area head across Ecclesall Road to Sheffield General Cemetery. The Cemetery was built at the same time as the Botanical Gardens by some of the same people!
