Events at the Sheffield Botanical Gardens

Some of these events are run by other organisations so please check the event details on their websites prior to travel.

  • Sheffield Botanical Gardens will be closed to the public to host events as follows:

    30th August to 4th September 2023 for Art in the Gardens

    30th October to 8th November 2023 for Illuminate the Gardens.

    Pedestrian Access for patrons of the Dorothy Fox Education Centre will be via Thompson Road Entrance.

    (Authorised Vehicle drop offs only)

Natural dyes public tour

One hour long public guided tour at 1 pm.

Meet at the entrance to the Dorothy Fox Education centre at the top of the slope from the Thompson Road gates , off Ecclesall Road.

There’s no need to book, you can just turn up.

All tours include a range of sites in the garden with a specific monthly focus. For May we will be looking at how plants have been used to make natural dyes.

We encourage people taking the tour to make a £3 donation to the Gardens

LIVING WREATH WORKSHOP

Rosemary & Thyme invite you to join us to come and learn how to make your own ‘Living’ wreath. In this workshop you will learn how to moss a wreath and to incorporate a range of living potted plants and herbs into your wreath. This will then continue to grow and live over the summer months and can be used as an outdoor table centre piece or on a patio for extra summer colour.

Using previously unseen slides from a private collection, FOBS Gardens historian Alison Hunter will examine the more recent history of the Gardens, including the National Heritage Lottery funded restoration project and the role of the various partners who are responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of the Gardens.
