Children’s Out of School Activities
Sheffield Botanical Gardens is an approved site for Children’s University activities. For more information on the Sheffield Children’s University see www.sheffield.gov.uk/cu
The activities are run on Wednesday afternoons in the school holidays and at some half terms and offer a variety of activities. They are designed to encourage children to experience the Gardens identifying features, plants and wildlife. Different activities are available for children aged 4-8 and 8 plus. Children not in the Children’s University are very welcome to join in.
Do come to the Gardens which are lovely all the year round with plenty to see. Explore parts of the Gardens that are often missed such as the Four Seasons behind the pavilions and the Marnock Garden. Remember to say hello to the Bear in the Bear pit.
There is a Bear Hunt on Wednesday 10th April from 1.00 pm to 3.30 pm. Meet in the Dorothy Fox Centre to pick up your Bear Hunt sheet (50p). Finding all the bears takes about an hour. Art and Craft activities will take place in the Dorothy Fox Centre.
Always wrap up in appropriate clothing for the weather such as waterproof shoes. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Children who are members of the Children’s University can gain credits. Please bring their Children’s University passport. Only children and young people attending a Sheffield school can collect credits from the Sheffield Children’s University but all children are very welcome.
